The PhD Colloquium 2026 hosted by Universiti Brunei Darussalam School of Business and Economics (UBDSBE) brought together doctoral researchers, academic leaders, and international scholars on a dynamic platform for research exchange and scholarly engagement.
The colloquium stood as a key academic platform that showcased and strengthened doctoral research within UBDSBE. It enabled PhD candidates to present their work, engage in rigorous academic discourse, and receive constructive feedback from peers, assessors, and invited scholars.
Held annually since 2021, this year’s colloquium featured 24 PhD participants from Brunei Darussalam and across Southeast Asia, presenting research spanning four core disciplines: Business, Management, Finance, and Economics. Parallel sessions were also conducted to facilitate focused discussions, with each group evaluated by a panel of three to four academic assessors to ensure depth, rigour, and constructive critique.
The panels included distinguished members of the ASEAN University Network – Business and Economics (AUN-BE), comprising deans and academic leaders from leading regional institutions. The colloquium coincided with UBDSBE’s hosting of the ASEAN University Network for Business and Economics (AUN-BE) Annual General Meeting (AGM) 2026, further strengthening regional academic collaboration and knowledge exchange.
Aligned with its mission to cultivate innovative and impactful leaders, the colloquium reinforces the UBDSBE’s commitment to research excellence and quality assurance in line with Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB) accreditation standards. It also addressed the need for structured platforms that enable doctoral researchers to share their work, fostering a vibrant scholarly community through dialogue, critique, and intellectual exchange.
In recognition of research excellence, the event featured the Best Paper Awards, celebrating outstanding research contributions and emphasising the importance of high-quality scholarship and effective communication in doctoral training. The UBDSBE PhD Colloquium 2026 reflects the School’s continued dedication to nurturing future scholars and advancing impactful research within the region and beyond.
