Universiti Brunei Darussalam (UBD) reinforced the values of compassion, volunteerism, and community engagement through its annual Korban and Aqiqah Ceremony in Conjunction with Aidiladha 1447H held on 29th May 2026, bringing together students, staff, volunteers, and members of the wider community in a meaningful act of service and giving.
Organised by the Spiritual and Community Services Unit, Student Affairs Section (SAS), in collaboration with the UBD Student Representative Council (PMUBD), the initiative reflected the strong spirit of togetherness and social responsibility cultivated within the university community.
A total of six buffaloes and one goat were distributed for this year’s programme. Student volunteers and committee members worked together in managing the preparation, packing, and distribution of the korban and aqiqah meat to participants, underprivileged families, and members of the UBD community through self-collection and volunteer delivery arrangements.
The ceremony was graced by the presence of UBD Vice-Chancellor Dr Hazri Haji Kifle as the guest of honour, alongside invited guests and members of the university community.
PMUBD Chief Executive of Religious and Spiritual Affairs Awangku Muhammad Fauzan Al-Hadey Pengiran Damit shared, “This event is more than just a religious programme. It is a meaningful initiative that teaches us the value of sacrifice, sincerity, teamwork, and helping the community.”
The initiative reflects UBD’s continued commitment towards nurturing well-rounded and socially responsible graduates through experiential learning, student leadership, and meaningful community-based engagement beyond the classroom. The programme also provided students with valuable opportunities to develop leadership, teamwork, and organisational skills through direct community involvement and hands-on experience.
