About
Dr. Hajah Dayang Fatimah is a Senior Lecture at Universiti Brunei Darussalam. She obtained her PhD in Linguistics from the University of Malaya in 2002, MA in Linguistics from the University of Hawaii at Manoa USA in 1991, and BA Hons in Language Planning from the University of Malaya in 1987. She is actively involved in the outside professional work such as contributing expertise to the government and non-government institutions and also to the NGOs. Her services to the community are channelled through her commitment in the Ngo’s. She is a member of several associations such as The Translators Association of Brunei Darussalam (Deputy President), The Women Graduates Association (Assistant Hon Treasurer), The Council of Women of Brunei Darussalam (Permanent Representative), The Council of Social Welfare (Executive Member),
Jawatankuasa Tetap Bahasa Melayu (Executive Member), The Brunei Malay Teachers Association (Executive Member), The Kg OKBI/Pulaie Consultative Council (Executive Member), The University of Malaya Alumni-Brunei Chapter (Executive Member), The Linguistics Society of Brunei Darussalam (Executive Member), and ASTERWANI (Executive Member).

- The Doctor-Patient communication in initial consultation in outpatient clinics.
- The language shift within three generations in Brunei Darussalam
- A multidisciplinary investigation of media text in Malay and English in Brunei Darussalam and Malaysia.
- The prevalence against women abuse: The case of Brunei Darussalam
- The language choice within inter-ethnic communication among the minorities
