The Intensive English Proficiency Course

Courses offered under GDP are:

The IEPC is specially designed to help international students develop their confidence and communication skills in the English language. The course will provide you with valuable practice, guidance and explanation on the English language and build your English language fluency and prepare for further study at university or the work place. Language classes take place in the mornings, from Monday to Thursday, and Saturday, and the visits and activities take place in the afternoons.

Communication skills are developed through fun, social, interactive, community-based and integrated activities. Interaction with student buddies will develop your confidence and exercise your newly-gained language skills. This course is most suitable for students who wish to visit Universiti Brunei Darussalam and study English for professional, academic or personal development for a short period in a university environment.

  • Course Duration: 4 weeks
  • Eligibility: Minimum IELTS 5.0 / TOEFL iBT 59 – 60 / TOEFL 500/D7 or E8
  • Contact hours: 42 hours
  • Class size: Minimum of 5 students

Aims/Objectives

The course aims to provide an overall improvement in language proficiency and communication skills and to increase knowledge and understanding of Brunei life and culture. The main emphasis will be on extending your vocabulary and developing your speaking and listening skills. You will also revise and consolidate your grammar and work on your reading and writing skills. You will be introduced to a variety of aspects of Brunei’s life and culture through a wide range of media.
